I created Netties Expressions in 1997 at the age of 13. Now looking back, it seems way to young to start a little business and actually have customers. I was making custom birth announcements and printing business cards for a few local businesses and wanted a business name to attach to my products. And then Netties Expressions was born.
I've dabbled in card making and designing since I was young. My mom used to take me to the local scrapbooking store an hour away (which has been closed for years now). I'd spend hours walking the isles in all my glory, trying to figure out what to purchase and what I actually needed. I have lots of wonderful memories from our mother/daughter trips to the craft store.
Netties Expressions has gone through many changes since then.
My name is Jennette. I'm the person behind Netties Expressions.
An accountant/tax preparer by day and a crafter/designer by night. An introvert at heart, I'm an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs charts. All I truly need to make my day is having one or two conversations with someone about the deeper things in life. I call them heart talks. I love Jesus. I KNOW from experience that life isn't always easy. I believe in miracles. I love the beauty that God has created on this earth. Writing is my therapy and I definitely have a tendency to ramble. I love designing new things on my computer or shutting myself up in my woodworking shop and creating things to my hearts content. I’m a coffee drinker over tea any day. My nieces and nephews are my world and have me wrapped around their fingers. They are the “littles” in my life. I live in my dream yellow house called, Serenity Cottage.
I'm an advocate for mental health. Never, ever be ashamed to talk or ask for help. There's such good help out there. Even when you can't see the sun, it's always shining somewhere above the clouds.
Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
I've collected sayings, poems and stories for about as long as I can remember. I have binders and scribblers filled with my collection. I would love to be able to share them all with you and am slowly working on it, one saying at a time. I'm always on the lookout for a saying or a quote which I've never heard before.
My Grandpa collected poems, stories and sayings and eventually compiled them into a book which he gave away to people. I like to think that I inherited this trait from him. I found out recently that my Grandpa's mom (my Great Grandma) had a whole scribbler full of poems and songs which she collected. We both collected some of the same poems and songs.
Growing up I was known as the one who liked to sing sad songs and read sad poems and stories. I've always been an old soul. My favorite songs and poems are the ones which tell a story. I've always been drawn towards the sayings with more depth to them. Especially the sayings which stop you in your tracks and make you read them a few times before the meaning actually sinks in. Something that sticks with you after you’ve read it.
The first half of the year or a little more, is spent working full-time as a partner in our third generation family owned and operated accounting office. This sometimes involves high stress, deadlines and long hours. The rest of the year, I slow down and put my extra energy into finishing my house renovations. When I have extra time I love working on creating products for my business as well as just taking it more easy.
Having Netties Expressions allows me to let my creative juices flow in different ways which is both fun and relaxing.
Roblin is a small town in the prairies full of amazing people. It's small enough that most everyone knows each other. When I was diagnosed with SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) I found out exactly what a wonderful and caring community I come from. My SVT story is a long story for another day. The miracle that happened is very dear to my heart. I love sharing this story with others.
My products are handmade here in Roblin, MB and I'm honored to call this little place my home.
